Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance has remarked that Iran’s Cinema ranks first in the region.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi has said that Iran’s Cinema produces nearly 100 films per annum.
He made the remarks at a ceremony during the Fajr Film Festival in the southern Iranian city of Bushehr.
“In the country’s 20-Year Perspective, Iran is expected to rank first among the countries of the region in some or all areas, but now the Islamic Republic of Iran ranks first in the field of cinema compared with other countries in the region with nearly 100 film productions,” he noted.
Most countries in the region are surprised at Iran’s achievements in producing a high number of films in the industry, Salehi said.
The minister highlighted that Iran’s Cinema has now become a serious contributor to the film industry, producing a comparatively massive amount of productions.
The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is being held in venues across Iran from February 1-11.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
